Giovanni came to my studio for a session recently but he was a nervous wreck who just wanted to hide in his carrier and complain bitterly about the whole situation. He let me take a few photos but mostly he showed me all the places in my studio where a cat could hide!
We decided to reconvene another day at his home where we hoped he’d be more relaxed. Was he ever?
He totally worked the camera. It was like he was a different cat.
Once I was confident that he was comfortable with the camera I set up a mobile studio. He wasn’t remotely fazed by the strobes and even let us put clothes on him without scratching our eyes out, amazing!
He loves playing in bags so I made it my mission to capture that side of his personality. These might be my all time favourite cat photos that I’ve ever taken.

Giovanni turned out to be such a good model I went on to hire him for a commercial job I shot for Aristopet shortly afterwards. He’s a star in the making I tells ya!
