I like to preface these before and afters with a disclaimer – my typical preference is to get the whole scene correctly exposed in-camera. But, in certain situations, like the one below where I didn’t have any lighting equipment with me, I’ll underexpose the subjects to retain the detail in the sky and then lighten the rest in post production.
