I first met Kai over 10 years ago when he was a last minute addition to big sister Peityn’s portrait session booking. I’ve lost count of the amount of times he’s been in front of my camera since then but I haven’t lost count of the amount of different expressions he would give me – ONE!

Kai was diagnosed with lung cancer recently. His family tried every procedure under the sun to stop it from spreading but, devastatingly, he has lost his fight. It’s small comfort that he’s free from pain now but hopefully in time the good memories – of which there are A LOT – will replace the sad ones.

When I originally posted the photos of Kai from his many sessions over the years I didn’t share these ones. They were a surprise birthday present for his owner (arranged by her daughter). The little people are her grandchildren, the older of whom had a special bond with Kai.

I forgot to take a video of the finished storyboard but you can take my word for it that it looked great.
