I donated a voucher to Sydney Dogs and Cats Home last year for the silent auction at their gala ball. Ebony’s owner was the highest bidder. We started to arrange the shoot shortly afterwards but then he dropped off the radar for several months. When I heard from him again I learned that 13yo Ebony had been diagnosed with a brain tumour. She’d been undergoing radiation for it but was now ready for her close up.

I was expecting a very slow and somber dog but Ebby was full of beans and we had a great time making these memories.

Doesn’t she have the best smile? What a total sweetheart.

Despite her recent health issues and previous cruciate surgeries she still loves chasing anything that squeaks.

Look at her go!

Blackwattle Bay is her stomping ground so we ended the session with some photos in front of the Anzac Bridge at sunset. The first one was chosen for a 20×30″ canvas for her home.

This album is another element of the collection her people ordered, along with some digital files and a framed photo of the running shot above.

Very sadly Ebony passed away yesterday, 22 January 2018. My heart is broken for her owners, she was their world. I hope these photos bring them some comfort while they grieve for their gorgeous girl.
