Photographing dogs in need is where my pet photography journey started and it’s still something I devote a large portion of my time to. Every client that books a session with me is supporting my ability to offer this invaluable pro-bono service to charities.
I currently work predominantly with Fetching Dogs and Saving Staffies. I have also helped the following charities:
Arctic Breed Rescue – photography and fundraising
Sydney Dogs and Cats Home – Limited Edition bus shelter project (winner of a D&AD award), adoption photos and fundraising
Oscar’s Law – submitted images to their “I want Oscar’s Law” book.
Puppy Love Rescue – photography and fundraising
Staffy Rescue – photography and fundraising
Paws’n’Hooves – photography
ACT Rescue and Foster – 2015 calendar photography
NSW Bull Terrier Rescue – photography
DCH – photography
Pet Rescue – adoption event photography
The Unexpected Pit Bull – donated images to their 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 calendars
In 2010 I was invited to be the first Australian full service professional member of HeartSpeak. It’s since grown to become a huge international network of artists helping animals in need. It’s run by an amazing group of women and I’m very proud to be a part of it.
In 2013, along with two of my pet loving cohorts, we set up Team Dog. The aim is to promote sensible, science-driven animal welfare practices, while helping to support people, pets and communities as a whole. Sadly, due to time constraints, I’ve since had to step down from my role but I still fully support them and will continue to help out where I can.
I also do fundraising a couple of times a year in the form of a mega raffle and calendars. Sign up to my newsletter (by clicking on the ® in the footer) if you want to make sure you don’t miss future fundraiser announcements.
My fundraising efforts in 2016 – Tails of Sydney, my calendars and diaries and donations to auctions/raffles – raised over $15,000.
