A couple of weeks ago I had the HUGE pleasure of photographing two dogs that wear our leather wares but I’d yet to meet. Cruize is a photographer’s dream in the head-tilt department. I had to actually only make tiny noises so he didn’t do the full 90 degree tilt and look totally possessed!

Bo does a more subtle head tilt, while staring right into your soul with his piercing blue eyes.

Vicki competes in agility with her two boys and the bond they have is unmissable. In fact, getting them to look at me and not her was my biggest challenge. She’s in the process of launching a new dog blog, DOG Happy. It’s still a work in progress, but here’s the link so you can bookmark it for later and follow it on social media. The main purpose of the shoot was to get images for the website.

My camera fell a little bit in love with Cruize, it’s not hard to see why.

“Go to sleep” is a trick where they put their heads down and cover their eyes. Asking for it in a busy and distracting environment was a tall order though, so we settled for half of the trick.

Not to be outdone by Cruize in the modelling department, Bo did a pretty good job of hamming it up too.

Finally they got to do some running around. Their favourite thing.

Before we wrapped up for the day I did some lit shots against the dusk sky. The dogs were massively fidgety and had their eyes firmly locked on Vicki. It was also freezing cold (Sydney freezing, fifteen or so degrees!). It was around now that Vicki proclaimed that I’m one of the most patient people she’s ever met. Patient or stubborn, one or the other. We got there in the end.

Thanks for an awesome shoot Vicki, it was a joy working with you and your boys!
