I went along to the French Bulldog Club of NSW fun day at Rushcutter’s Bay last weekend. If you know me at all you know I’m obsessed with these funny little dogs! Before we got our first boofhead, Angel, I wanted a Frenchie and had contacted some breeders but was put off by the long waiting lists – I wanted a dog and I wanted one now! So, we adopted Angel, the first Staffy I went to meet, and nine years later our home is still full of blockheads. I think I’ve found my breed for life, but I often imagine a future shared with a squishy face as well.

On Sunday I was still feeling the effects of the jet lag that just keeps giving but I went along to indulge my obsession anyway and brought my camera to take a few snaps. It didn’t take long for me to hit the wall, but I got to steal rather a few snorty cuddles in the short time I was there. Mission accomplished!

I met Ody and his owner there (Ody was my rent-a-Frenchie at the last Dog Lover’s Show) and Pryah, a tiny baby puppy they’re minding before she goes to her new home. Afterwards they came back to mine and Bruno got to have a little playdate with his buddy and his new even littler buddy. Then Pryah worked the camera better than 90% of the puppies and dogs I’ve photographed in my whole career – what a superstar!

The last photo is just an iPhone snap, but it got about 10k likes and several hundred shares on Facebook so I figured I’d include it here too. It’s kinda cute and I wish I’d taken it with my proper camera which was only feet away, DOH!

I put a video up on Bruno’s page. Check it out if you want to see Pryah unleashing her ‘tude on the big bad Bruno > https://www.facebook.com/themosthandsomedogalive/videos/783921438390764/

If you know anyone who shares my love of these funny dogs feel free to share this post with them … and tell them they need to book a portrait session with me!!

Ruthless Photos and Ruthless Leather will be exhibiting at the inaugural Sydney Dog Lovers Show from Friday 7th until Sunday 9th of November 2014 at stand R94 in The Royal Hall of Industries (at The Entertainment Quarter in Moore Park).

There are lots of reasons to come and visit my stand:
• My Supreme Session gift vouchers will be half price, saving you a whopping $150. Buy one for yourself or gift it to a loved one for Christmas.
• Buy my 2015 charity fundraiser diaries and calendars. These also make great Christmas presents.
• My new layflat albums will be on display for you to sit down and enjoy a flick through.
• I’ll be doing a pretty HUGE giveaway. You do not want to miss this!
• Come and check out the Ruthless Leather samples and see why our wares are at the top of everyone’s wishlists.

I’ll also be joined by this young man, while I indulge myself in the fantasy that I finally own a French Bulldog of my very own!

You can buy tickets at the door, but if you buy them online beforehand they’re cheaper.

At the end of last month I attended [with Bruno] and photographed the Von Forell obedience workshop at Pet Resorts Australia in Dural. I’m not a fan of shooting in full sun, but when there are dogs running towards me at a million miles an hour it’s nice to have the high shutter speeds that lots of light allows!

Keep an eye on the Von Forell website if you want to hear about upcoming workshops near you – I highly recommend them.

I’m going to preface these photos with a quote from Glenn Cooke of Pet Resorts Australia [who hosted this seminar]:

“For those of you who don’t understand working dogs – all these dogs are sociable and were around 20+ people all weekend. Working dogs, when done by the right people, is a lot of fun and it builds drive in the dogs while also allowing them to burn off excess energy.

Many people assume that doing this type of work makes dogs aggressive when usually it has the opposite effect. It teaches them to control aggression and not attack from fear which is, and generally has been, the ongoing issue by poorly socialised, badly bred dogs.”

Kris from Von Forell regularly runs workshops all over Australia. Keep an eye on his website for announcements.

The puppies made me forget all about posting these photos! At the end of June the Eastern Suburbs Dog Training Club celebrated their 50th anniversary at their grounds in Centennial Park. There were obedience and agility displays, face painting, cake and lots of gorgeous dogs!
